Fighting Slow Play

Slow play is a frustrating problem in golf but particularly so in tournaments and we want to minimize the amount of slow play during our events. If your group falls behind (loses sight) of the group in front of you, you have an obligation to speed up your play to catch up. Slow play is not necessarily related to playing skill. Low handicap players are often just as guilty of slow play as high handicap players. Playing ready and efficient golf can greatly speed up play. Below are some tips on playing faster. We want to encourage everyone to be considerate of the golfers behind you at all times and help reduce slow play.

Tee to green

On and around the green

Remember that there are players behind you. If you are falling behind, please do what you need to do to catch up. We would like to avoid the need to assess penalties for excessive and chronic slow play.
